Our Brief was to create a spacious modern Bali Style house, with  clean lines and low maintenance finishes

The double volume front entrance leads into an airy hall with a study and living room off to the right and a wine cellar under the staircase to the left.  The kitchen and dining room are interconnected in an open plan format, yet are clearly defined spaces with their own character.  The spacious family room opens out to a covered outdoor entertainment area, with a built in braai overlooking the sparkling pool and indigenous garden.  Solar heating was installed both for the bathrooms and the pool as was a double garage and staff quarters.

Upstairs there is a balcony overlooking the double volume hall and front entrance bringing light and air into the landing area.  All four bedrooms have full en-suite bathrooms.  Three of the bedrooms lead out onto a north-facing balcony overlooking the garden and pool.  The balcony has an alfresco braai / fireplace - perfect for creating an intimate atmosphere on winter evenings.

Low maintenance finishes were a prerequisite, bronze aluminium windows were installed; the cemcrete finish on the exterior walls weathers naturally with no need to repaint every 3 years.  An important consideration in our harsh South African climate.
